About Philomena’s Salumeria

Hours at these spots often run into the evening, later than a typical coffee shop, and many stay open on weekends when demand is highest in Utica. Seasonal and limited-time drink or dessert flavors are common, so a shop's current menu can differ from what is posted online; checking recent photos or calling ahead helps. Some locations in New York are dessert-only with no seating, meant for takeout, while others have cafe-style seating for staying a while. Straws for bubble tea are typically wide to accommodate the toppings, and are provided automatically unless you ask for a regular one. Loyalty apps and stamp cards are common at chain locations, and ordering ahead through an app can shorten a wait considerably at busy locations during peak after-school and after-dinner hours.

Utica is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Utica is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

First visit. Herd about them thru word of mouth. Awesome pastry selection! Tons of food avail for pickup. I got the riggie sauce. That was decent family liked that a lot. Amd we got some party's and bread. The pistachio cheesecake was awesome. They also have a sandwich kitchen which looked wicked but didn't have the time. Will go back and try something tho for sure. Hidden gem. Mither got the sausage roll and mushroom stew and said it was excellent as well.

The service was great and the good was yummy! We had the Vinny (hot sandwich). The bread was so soft and delicious. We split a lemon bar for dessert, but I wish I had my own. 😋

I gotta give it up to this place. I’ve been searching and searching for a place that had the kind of sub that I love. I could never Find that until I found this hidden gem. My wife and I visited Them today and were not disappointed at all. The meat was fresher than fresh and the sub bread was phenomenal. Sure, The wait was about 45 minutes, but totally worth it. They have found a customer for life. A bit of advice, though since this place is so well loved and pretty packed you may want to call ahead for a sub. This is what I intend to do next time. The staff is very friendly and apologized several times for the wait. But again, The wait was well worth it Go see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed either.

Randomly stumbled into Philomena’s Salumeria while I was in Utica and it was such a good find. The sandwiches are super authentic, loaded, and just done right. The bread is unreal too, baked fresh in-house and you can 100% tell the difference. Really good food and quality ingredients. If you’re anywhere near Utica and want a proper Italian sandwich, don’t skip this spot.
